Finding slopes of real graphs
Lesson designed for: Mathematics - Math Models - Linear Functions and Regression Unit

Description:
Students search the internet for two different linear graphs (increasing and decreasing) and put on a power point and describe what happens when the slope changes and the y intercept changes.

Procedure:
Find 2 linear graphs online. Find one that is increasing and one that is decreasing. Make sure they are complete graphs with axes labeled.

For each graph Tell what the slope and y-intercept are. Tell what the slope and y-intercept represent in terms of the problem.

Write an equation for each graph.

Tell what would happen to the graph if the slope changed. Explain what that would change in terms of the problem.

Tell what would happen if the y-intercept changed. Explain what that would change in terms of the problem.

Put all this information along with the graphs in a power point. Submit it in Blackboard.
